Thanks, Apparitions!

Thanks to Dave and Thom at Apparitions Comics(off of 28th Street in Grand Rapids, MI) for letting me hang out in their shop all day on Free Comic Day. I truly appreciate all the generosity they've shown me through the years! Thanks also to everybody who came by and said "hi" and maybe even picked up some art! I had a great time!

Lobo Sapphire!

(Thanks for the idea Brad and Nick!)
What if Lobo got a Star Sapphire ring for his intense love for . . . . HIMSELF?!

Silver Samurai

Just a little something I did for commission. The client grew up in Korea and wanted a painting of a comic book character of Asian decent. As we talked about who it could be and what to make for a background, we settled on the feel of an old Chinese print. The character however, is the Silver Samurai, a Japanese X-Men villain, and because of the clients time in Korea, the writing at the top is Korean(I didn't ask what it means). They asked that the character remain kind of comic-looking while the background have more of the traditional Chinese print feel, hence why they seem a little mismatched. I didn't include all the cross hatching or other techniques comic art has to Silver Samurai so that he didn't seem too out of place. This was also my first attempt at acrylic, so not only did I have to figure out how to use it, I also had to make it look like watercolor and black ink.

Inker and Colorist!

We have our inker/colorist! His name is Matt Baker. This is the inked image of Vionne I did pencils for. The abs need a little fixing, but besides that I love what he's done with my art. The digitally colored version was only his "audition" for the job and the final color scheme will differ.

Thank you, Chicago!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the table this past weekend and made it so enjoyable for Kim and I. I've been coming to Wizard World Chicago since 2004 and since then it has been the event that my year revolves around. I won't be there next year because we'll be getting married that weekend, however I will let everyone know when I am heading to other conventions!

one of the commissions I did at the con, Batman as Green Lantern(he's a little squatty looking in this photo because the paper is on an angle, so I apologize. The original was proportionate).

There was a high demand for prints of this piece so I wanted to let everyone know that I will get prints made and I will let you know when they arrive. It should take about two weeks so keep watching for that post.

Sold- The Dark Avengers. A take on the cover to The Avengers #4 by Jack Kirby.

Thanks again, everybody!
