Batman and Green Arrow

A gift I drew for a friend's son. He asked me to draw Batman and Green Arrow because they are his two favorite, "powerless", superheroes. I designed it to look like the cover to a new Batman/Green Arrow comic. The title would go in the empty space at top. The men at the bottom are meant to be no more than generic mobsters or thugs, like many early comics had before super villians became the standard.

Thanks to Dave and Thom at Apparitions Comics(off of 28th Street in Grand Rapids, MI) for letting me hang out in their shop all day on Free Comic Day. I truly appreciate all the generosity they've shown me through the years! Thanks also to everybody who came by and said "hi" and maybe even picked up some art! I had a great time!

Lobo Sapphire!

(Thanks for the idea Brad and Nick!)
What if Lobo got a Star Sapphire ring for his intense love for . . . . HIMSELF?!

Silver Samurai

Just a little something I did for commission. The client grew up in Korea and wanted a painting of a comic book character of Asian decent. As we talked about who it could be and what to make for a background, we settled on the feel of an old Chinese print. The character however, is the Silver Samurai, a Japanese X-Men villain, and because of the clients time in Korea, the writing at the top is Korean(I didn't ask what it means). They asked that the character remain kind of comic-looking while the background have more of the traditional Chinese print feel, hence why they seem a little mismatched. I didn't include all the cross hatching or other techniques comic art has to Silver Samurai so that he didn't seem too out of place. This was also my first attempt at acrylic, so not only did I have to figure out how to use it, I also had to make it look like watercolor and black ink.
